The Indian drape has stood the test of time for years now and has reigned the uncontested traditional look for any occasion. Also, we won’t deny that our obsession with the saree started off rather recently, as late as the start of 2017 when Kangana Ranaut was sporting the 6 yards almost everywhere. From working a casual cotton drape at the airport to working an embellished number at a formal meet, the diva’s stylebook is filled with saree looks to love. We’ve decided to share some of Kangana’s saree awesomeness with you too and curated a list of 5 of our favourite saree-clad looks of the actress’.
Stylist duo, Ami Patel and Sanjay Kumar Dauhaliya picked out this belted drape from Sabyasachi Mukherjee for Kangana recently. The black and gold polka-dotted saree with a paisley print border was paired with a paisley printed saree blouse featuring a Chinese collar. The saree was then cinched with a black belt from the same label. Now, we’re going to ignore her incredibly classy hairdo and just take that minute to appreciate how she worked the traditional drape in contemporary style.
This time, Kangana worked the classic Kanjeevaram in a bright green hue. Working a traditional emerald green and rust Kanjeevaram saree from Sabyasachi’s ‘Vasanthalaxmi’ collection, she paired it with a rust blouse, keeping it classy and looking very traditional. She even went bold with her jewellery and worked a choker set from Sabyasachi's label crafted out of Burmese rubies, Zambian emeralds and Basra pearls. This makes for one of our favourite looks of the actress’ in the 6 yards.
In a beautiful honey gold saree, Kangana put on display her saree expertise yet again in a Sabyasachi drape. From his ‘Revival’ collection, the handwoven saree was paired with a long-sleeved blouse with a bold cut-out detail at the back. She yet again went with Sabyasachi jewels including a choker and matching earrings to accessorise with. With a few gorgeous flowers to adorn her bun with, she looked like Indian perfection.
Kangana, this time opted for a more casual yet classy number from Swati & Sunaina’s collection. The pretty white and gold cotton count muslin ‘Damyanti’ saree was paired with a matching blouse featuring cold-shoulders and ruffled sleeves. We love how the actress went with flats from Miu Miu to round off her Indian look with, thus lending that slight edge to her traditional look. This saree with the slight cold-shouldered urban touch we liked very much.
The actress was spotted looking summer fresh in this lambent yellow silk Raw Mango saree. The traditional drape featured gold embroidered motif work all over and this, she paired with a contrasting neutral blue classy blouse, thus aptly breaking through the bright hue she had going on. Her jadau and pearl neckpiece was paired with matching danglers thus adding that punctuation to her look. We think, in this look, Kangana looked simply resplendent!
