There are not many actresses who are willing to shed their glamorous avatar for de-glam roles, but there a few who never shy away from getting into the skin of their onscreen characters. There are few actresses who are willing to go to any extent to make their character look as real as possible and here are a few actresses who nailed the de-glam look onscreen.
Deepika Padukone, who was last seen on the silver screen in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's magnum opus 'Padmaavat' in a royal look, has become the queen of several hearts not only by doing glamourous roles but also deglamourized ones. In Shoojit Sircar's 2015 film 'Piku', Deepika was seen in a simple character of a young woman whose father is suffering from chronic constipation. She still managed to grab the limelight from maverick actors such as Amitabh Bachchan and Irrfan Khan with a minimal yet elegant look.
Kareena Kapoor Khan is undoubtedly one of the most beautiful actresses in the industry who can nail any look with no makeup too. The mesmerising beauty works hard in the gym and keeps a tight check on the intake of calories. The doting mother of Taimur has donned the de-glam look several times onscreen but her simple village girl character in Vishal Bhardwaj's 'Omkara' surely grabbed more eyeballs for her real no makeup look. Her flawless skin and stellar performance were more than enough to grab one's attention.
Bollywood's youngest superstar Alia Bhatt, who made her debut with Karan Johar's 'Student Of The Year' in which she essayed the character of Shanaya Singhania, a fashion addict and the most popular girl in the campus, shocked everyone with her de-glam look in Imtiaz Ali's 'Highway'. Her portrayal of Veera Tripathi in 'Highway' showcased her acting versatility as her character was of a simple girl, who gets abducted. With no makeup and no branded clothes, Alia managed to showcase her talent.
Global star Priyanka Chopra, who has her kitty full with Hollywood films and her American television series 'Quantico', too essayed a de-glam character in Anurag Basu's 'Barfi!' in which she played an autistic woman. She nailed the character with her short hair look and a speech impediment, which got her several accolades from the audience as well as the critics. Priyanka even won several awards for her portrayal of Jhilmil Chatterjee.
After winning the hearts of the audience with 'Tanu Weds Manu', Kangana Ranaut returned to the silver screen with the sequel 'Tanu Weds Manu Returns' but this time with a double dose of herself. Apart from her previous character of Tanuja Trivedi aka Tanu, Kangana even essayed the character of a Haryanvi athlete Kumari Sangwan aka Kusum. Her character of Kusum required her to go de-glam which was quite opposite to that of Tanu but she nailed it with ease.
