From a small town girl to one of the highest paid actresses in the industry today, Kangana Ranaut’s journey has been quite a roller-coaster ride. Coming from a non-filmy background, without any godfather, the actress has flagged it to the top purely on her own. Here’s looking at a few unseen and rare photos of the actress.
Kangana Ranaut made her debut with Anurag Basu’s ‘Gangster’ in the year 2006. Kangana was earlier supposed to make her debut in Deepak Shivdasani’s directorial ‘I Love You Boss’, but after a visit to filmmaker Mahesh Bhatt’s office where she interacted with Anurag and auditioned for the lead role in the romantic thriller ‘Gangster’. Bhatt felt that she was too young for the role and signed Chitrangda Singh instead. However, Chitrangda was later unavailable to do the film and Kangy was contracted as a replacement for ‘Gangster’, opting out of ‘I Love You Boss’.
Kangy is not just an acclaimed actress across Bollywood, but she is a complete fashionista as well. The talented actress wows her fans and fashion mavens with her glamorous red-carpet appearances and every public outing. In this picture, it seems that Kangana started early with her fashionable ways as she looks like a mini version of a movie-star with sunglasses and a stoic look on her face.
This picture was clicked at a temple during one of her school trips wherein Kangana carried her mother’s purse. She apparently howled and sobbed until her mother agreed to let her take the purse. Well, that clearly shows where all that perseverance comes from.
Kangana may have started out working really early in her life, but the actress also enjoyed quite a lot as a child and a growing teenager. Determined to find her "space and freedom", she relocated to Delhi at the age of sixteen from Himachal Pradesh. Her decision of not pursuing medicine led to constant feuding with her parents and her father refused to sponsor a pursuit he considered to be aimless. She took on a few modelling assignments, but generally disliked the career as she found "no scope for creativity". Kangana decided to shift focus towards acting and joined the Asmita Theatre Group, where she trained under the theatre director Arvind Gaur. She participated in Gaur's theatre workshop at the India Habitat Centre, acting in several of his plays, including the Girish Karnad-scripted ‘Taledanda’.
The Ranaut sisters – Kangana and Rangoli are as thick as thieves. Rangoli also doubles up as Kangana’s manager and often offers public statements on her behalf. When Kangana faced various troubles over alleged relationships with Hrithik Roshan and became the subject of name-calling and various accusations by Aditya Pancholi, Rangoli stuck her neck out for Kangy and took everyone head on. The bond is visible even in this throwback photo where Rangoli is towering over a little baby Kangana.
