It is absolutely heartbreaking when we hear the news of a celebrity that passed away suddenly. We follow their everyday life as if they were our friends or family, and we feel as if we knew them. So it can really break us down if we hear of one of them leaving us, especially if they were young and had promising careers. Here’s a list of Bollywood celebs who passed away too soon.
Veteran actress Sridevi, 54, died on February 24, 2018. She was in Dubai to attend nephew Mohit Marwah’s wedding with her family. She decided to stay back as her family returned to India. Rumours of her death broke on the internet in the late hours of Saturday night, and the sad news was all but confirmed in the early hours of Sunday, leaving the entire nation in shock and disbelief.
Music composer and singer Aadesh Shrivastava’s sudden passing away took everyone by surprise His notable contributions are recognizable in ‘Chalte Chalte,’ ‘Baghban,’ ‘Baabul,’, ‘Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham’ and ‘Raajneeti’. It was reported on August 31, 2015, that his cancer had relapsed for the third time since 2010 and that he had been hospitalised for more than a month. He died, in a coma, at a hospital in Mumbai, on September 5, 2015, a day after his 51st birthday.
Jiah Khan shot to fame in tinselville after appearing beside Amitabh Bachchan in ‘Nishabd.’ The controversial production was released in the year 2007. She was introduced to the movie world at a very young age. She also acted as a supporting actress in ‘Ghajini’ beside Aamir Khan in the year 2008. Her final onscreen performance was in ‘Housefull’ in 2010. In 2013, she committed suicide at a tender age of 25.
India’s premiere satirist passed away in an untimely death at the age of 57. Jaspal Bhatti died in a car crash on October 25, 2012. He is most well-known for his television series ‘Flop Show’ and mini capsules Ulta Pulta which ran on Doordarshan. Jaspal acted in almost 30 Bollywood films through his expansive career. He also ended up featuring in films with the top three Khans of Bollywood in films like ‘Jaanam Samjha Karo’, ‘Shakti: The Power’ and ‘Fanaa’.
The Marathi superstar, most remembered for his supremely comic performances in films like ‘Maine Pyar Kiya,’ ‘Hum Saath Saath Hai,’ and ‘Hum Aapke Hai Kaun’, Laxmikant Berde passed away at the age of 50 in 2004. He was suffering from a severe kidney ailment. Besides his successful stint in Bollywood, Berde was primarily a superstar in Marathi cinema as he virtually ruled the industry from 1985 to 2000 giving a string of blockbusters such as ‘Aamhi Doghe Raja Rani’, ‘Hamaal De Dhamaal’, ‘Ashi Hi Banava Banavi’, ‘Balache Baap Brahmachari’, ‘Eka Peksha Ek’, ‘Bhootacha Bhau’, ‘Thartharat’, ‘Dhadakebaaz’ and ‘Zapatlela’.
Best known for his roles in ‘Wanted’, ‘Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge’, ‘Kahin Pyaar Na Ho Jaaye’ and ‘Khiladiyon Ka Khiladi’, Inder Kumar’s death took everyone by surprise. Inder passed away from cardiac arrest at the age of 43 in Mumbai. He made his debut with 1996 film ‘Masoom’, featuring in over 20 movies in a career lasting over 21 years. He had a promising start in the 1990s with several notable films as a supporting actor such as ‘Gaja Gamini’, ‘Maa Tujhhe Salaam’ and ‘Tumko Na Bhool Paayenge’. He also appeared on television in the hit TV show ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’ playing the part of Mihir Virani opposite Smriti Irani in 2002.
Divya Bharti started her career in the South at a very young age. After featuring in a number of high-grossing Telugu films, she progressed to Bollywood films in 1992 with the action thriller ‘Vishwatma’. She further went on to have commercial success alongside acclaimed actors such as Govinda and Rishi Kapoor in films such as ‘Shola aur Shabnam’ and ‘Deewana’ respectively; the latter of which garnered her a Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. She acted in over 14 Hindi films between 1992 and 1993, which is to date an unbroken record in Hindi cinema. She died mysteriously at the age of 19. She fell from the balcony of her apartment in Versova, Mumbai.
