We were the first to tell you that the Dhak Dhak girl of Bollywood, Madhuri Dixit, will replace late actress Sridevi in Karan Johar’s production venture Shiddat. And now the news is officially confirmed by Sridevi’s daughter Janhvi Kapoor, who posted the picture of the two divas and wrote, “Abhishek Varman’s next film was very close to mom’s heart ….Dad, Khushi and I are thankful to Madhuriji for now being a part of this beautiful film….”
Interestingly, the cross-border period drama will mark the reunion of Sanjay Dutt and Madhuri Dixit after 21 long years. The duo was last seen in Mahaanta in 1997. Apart from this, Madhuri and Sanjay received praises from the audience for their crackling chemistry in films like Saajan, Khalnayak, Thanedaar, Khatron Ke Khiladi, Ilaaka, Sahibaan, Kanoon Apna Apna and others.
Shiddat is directed by Abhishek Varman, who previously helmed 2 States and also stars Varun Dhawan, Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha and Aditya Roy Kapur in key roles. The film will mark the fourth collaboration between Alia and Varun after Student of the Year, Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania and Badrinath Ki Dulhania. Interestingly, all the films are bankrolled by filmmaker Karan Johar.
On the work front, Sanjay Dutt has interesting projects lined up in his kitty, the first one being Sahib Biwi Aur Gangster 3, which is expected to release in July this year. Post that, the 58-year-old actor will also be seen in Torbaaz and Ashutosh Gowariker’s Panipat which is scheduled to hit the screens on December 6, 2019.
On the other hand, Madhuri Dixit is currently busy in her debut Marathi film Bucket List. After wrapping it up, she will start the shooting for Total Dhamaal which also features Anil Kapoor and Ajay Devgn in key roles.
